The government through the ministry of information has issued a statement to address the concerns of some parents who reported that some teachers are making extra lessons compulsory. Minister of information Mrs. Mutsvagagwa said that it’s criminal for the teacher to demand money for extra lessons because it goes against the government policy. It is alleged that some teachers are depriving students of crucial learning material reserving it for those who attend extra lessons.

The learner is paying as much as $10US per subject, the amount that very few parents can afford. The parents have a headache of whether to pay school fees for extra lessons, Minister Murttsvangwa said that all teachers involved in such activities must be reported to the relevant authorities. She went on to encourage the education inspectors to move around and investigate these schools that are depriving learners of such crucial information saving it for extra lessons when the students have already paid fees.
