The government of Zimbabwe has released a statement updating the COVID restrictions in reaction to the surge in death and the number of Covid cases. The statement reads that there is a worrying concern over inter-city travel for non-essential reasons despite the ban on inter-city travel.
The statement went on to give an example that people from Chitungwiza or Norton do not stay in Harare hence they are banned from coming into the city for non-essential reasons. The law enforcement agencies will be checking if people from these towns are coming for an essential reason if not, they will be turned back.
The ban might come as a surprise to many people in these two towns who thought they stay in Harare. The statement concludes by stating that people who might be trying to flaunt the rules by coming to Harare from Chitungwiza or Norton for non-essential reasons will be arrested.
