Zimbabwean engineer appointed as Vice head at Google

    Zimbabweans continue to fly high in the field of engineering and technology after Google appoints James Manyika, the head of McKinsey Global Institute, to be the company’s first SVP of Technology and Society, the company told Protocol.

    The head of google Sundar Pichai said that he is thrilled that James Manyika will be joining Google’s leadership team. He will be working on researching how google impacts and can improve people’s lives globally. The former University of Zimbabwe and University of Oxford graduate serves on the boards of research institutes at Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Stanford, and other high schools.

    

    In 2011 Manyika was named to the US National Innovation Advisory. During the Obama administration, he served as vice-chair of the United States Global Development Council at the White House. He joins a list of flying high Zimbabweans who are heads of reputable institutions around the world like:

    Tatenda Shopera, Ph.D. Senior Scientist who created the Pfizer Covid Vaccine and his team

    Ralph Tendai Mupita, Engineer and CEO of MTN

    Strive Masiyiwa, Engineer and director at Netflix
